Accredited guide services are expected to maintain ongoing compliance with AMGA standards and are subject to periodic reviews and assessments to ensure continued adherence to those standards.

Winter Katahdin

Went on a guided winter ascent of Mt Khatadin in February 2023 with my son and the Equinox guide. This was an amazing experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Our guide (Noah) was well prepared and highly experienced and prepped us well in the weeks leading to oir trip. He guided with a light hand giving us confidence and allowing for a genuine Mountaineering experience of a classic epic peak. We always felt safe with our guide. I highly recommend this for anyone with hiking experience that wants the fun, challenge, and skill-set associated with a thrilling winter ascent.

My life as a rock warrior

Climbing is not just a sport for me. It's my lively hood, my focus and the thing I want to do most in the world. I don’t always view myself as a climber but more of a teacher. I share the passion of myself and the sport I love with the world. The perception of what I do is always fear based. The perceived risk that I see every day sometimes smacks you upside the head. Not only the fear but also the risk involved. In guiding there are two kinds of risk, perceived risk and actual risk. As a guide I’m always trying to have my clients experience the perceived risk. When the actual risk comes into play it usually means it's time to bail!

Maine Winter Break for kids!

The sun is getting stronger and the days a little longer. I know how good both of those feel. Spending time in the fresh air can have a positive impact on our health. Even a short walk can make a difference. But if you want to challenge yourself and have never cross country skied or snow shoed the weather is in your favor with the temperatures on the rise.

If you really want to challenge yourself the ice is pretty good for ice climbing and in some places where the sun has melted the ice and snow, rock climbing is happening. My older son guides those interested in this type of challenge with his business Equinox Guiding Service. He takes people out so they can enjoy the beauty of the outdoors and have a blast. He provides all of the equipment, instruction, and encouragement. You can have little or no knowledge and be successful. I certainly recommend guide Noah Kleiner! Tell Noah I sent you and perhaps you’ll get a discount.
