Program Overview
The Spring After‑School Climbing Program offers progressive instruction designed to build real climbing skills, confidence, and self‑reliance.
Two afternoons per week after school (Tue/Thu)
Small cohort format for hands‑on learning and mentorship
Climbing in the Camden Hills including Barretts Cove and other local crags.
Pick‑up/Drop‑off: Equinox Office (20 Mechanic St, Camden) or trailhead as communicated weekly.
How the Program Flows
Each session builds on the last, but the program is intentionally flexible. Rather than following a rigid curriculum, we allow climbers’ curiosity and interests to help guide what we explore each week.
Early sessions focus on getting comfortable on the rock, learning how to move, and building trust within the group.
As the weeks progress, climbers naturally begin exploring more aspects of climbing — from trying different routes and challenges to learning how climbing systems work and how to support one another as teammates.
Some students may become interested in technical skills, while others focus more on movement, problem-solving, and confidence on the wall. Our guides adapt each session to the group’s energy, experience, and interests.
By the end of the program, climbers often find themselves stronger, more confident, and more connected to the climbing community here in Camden.
What Students Gain From the Program
Through regular climbing sessions, students build confidence, coordination, and teamwork while learning how to move safely and efficiently on real rock.
Over time, many climbers naturally begin to understand how ropes, anchors, and climbing systems work, while developing problem-solving skills, focus, and trust in their teammates.
Most importantly, students learn how to challenge themselves in a supportive environment while building a lifelong connection to the outdoors.
