Tumbledown mountain rock climbing
Tumbledown Moutain rock climbing is some of the most amazing adventure climbing that one could have in the state. If you're looking to learn how to multi-pitch trad climb and just starting to learn the ropes. this is a must do for anyone wanting to learn how to make the transitions and perfect the craft. Especially before you head into Katadin.
Tumbledown Mt. is not a true Alpine condition mountain but it is not an off the road excursion either. Summer climbing should always be safe from Albinism conditions because the summit is in the 3000ft range and bad weather approaching can be seen at a great distance. The rest of the year climbers should be prepared for the worst weather possible. Because of its location the environment is similar to the N.H. White Mountains environment before above tree line and above Cannon Cliff.
A.M.C. Route established in 1952 was done before most of our standard climbing equipment. At the 5.6 standard we learn more about our technical transitions than about the climbing itself. but moving through the alpine can be one of the more tricky endeavors for climbers. The transitions translate into a faster party when we start to climb in the more remote tusraion like Mt wahshington or mt katadin.
